Assign Server

Before you can start adding download tasks, please follow the steps below to assign a target server.

  1. Run Synology Download Redirector. The program will search for available servers automatically.
  2. Select a target server.
  3. Enter the user name and password for connecting the server.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select the target shared folder.
  6. Click Next to finish.

Create Download Task

By Dragging

To create a download task, you can drag the file or its link address to the Drop Zone on the desktop to download it. (Only for Windows users.) You can also drag it to the download list of the Download Redirector program window.

By Entering Manually

If you have the exact URL or the file location, you can follow the steps below to create a download task.

Enter URL

  1. Click Create.

  2. Make sure the URL tab is selected.

  3. Enter the URL of the file to be downloaded. Then click OK.

Select File

  1. Click Create.

  2. Select the File tab.

  3. Click the Browse button to locate the file to be downloaded. Then click OK.


Remove Download Task

You can follow the steps below to remove download tasks.

  1. Select the download task you want to remove.
  2. Click Remove.
  3. Click OK.

Note:

For multiple selection, users can press the Ctrl key and hold, and then click other download tasks.


Clear Finished Download Tasks

You can delete all finished download tasks on the Download Redirector program window by clicking Clear. Downloaded files will remain in the designated target shared folder.


Reconfigure the Settings

If the server is disconnected or that you want to change the target shared folder, please follow the steps below to reconfigure the settings.
  1. Click Setup to search for available servers.
  2. Follow the instruction to complete server connection setup.

View Server Information

By clicking Server, you can get the currently-connected server information, such as the server IP address, connecting user name, and the destination folder, etc.
